This is the eBook version of the printed book.
Today, businesses can monitor security and operations at all facilities within an integrated infrastructure of Global Security Operations Centers (GSOCs)—thereby responding more quickly, effectively, and cost-efficiently to any actual or potential breach or disruptive event. Now, The Bellwether Group fills the gap on public literature on this subject, showing business and IT decision-makers how to use new GSOC techniques and technologies to increase operational resiliency in the face of security, safety, and other disruptive events, while at the same time reducing staffing and system-wide costs. Bellwether’s expert consultants explain how to implement a small number of physical GSOCs in different time zones to create a truly global infrastructure capable of supporting each other in emergencies. They demonstrate how to build efficient “virtual” GSOC infrastructures based on common, web-enabled platforms; accommodate activity peaks and long-term growth; centrally collect incident and event information for real-time analysis; and drive even more value by extending GSOCs into facilities management and supply chain security. GSOCs are becoming an increasingly widespread “best practice” among investment banks, asset management firms, manufacturers, retailers, and in other industries. This document draws on the experiences of these leading-edge implementers to offer insights of significant value to every large and mid-sized company.

This paper is a must-read for anyone in a multi-location company who is responsible for security, risk management, global operations, or company financial performance. The paper lays out it in clear, concise, well-organized fashion a lot of essential information about the characteristics, benefits, components, management models, steps to establish, and costs of a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), a concept that has been implemented by a few large companies today, but which is likely to be become a must-have for all multi-location enterprises of any size, and especially for those operating globally. The paper makes a persuasive case that globalization, technology, distributed operations specialization, and a plethora of local and global risks make cost-effective global monitoring and timely proactive actions to prevent bad things happening and response when they do essential to the profitability of today's distributed enterprise. In addition to improved enterprise-wide risk management, this paper makes a persuasive case that implementing a GSOC infrastructure is also less costly than piecemeal or partially integrated security monitoring and response across locations. The concept and how to achieve it are laid out clearly and the business case is unambiguously made in this paper.Product details

More for Less Security Operations Centers Improving Resiliency while Simultaneously Reducing Cost FT Press Delivers Shorts eBook The Bellwether Group Reviews
I have read through "More for Less" and find several of the descriptions closely parallel the design we created at a company I'm intimately familiar with. Well done. I do have some critiques, not necessarily of the paper but of some designs that might have been passed along as "done" when in fact they're still "theoretical". Suffice to say that most of the forward looking and more advanced features of the design concepts fall into that category. So the "potential" for interoperability is more accurate than the "declaration" of interoperability. But as time passes, I see the designs discussed here coming to pass as long as development remains "open" minded, and advanced use of Cloud technologies can be integrated into the schema.
