Ok, let me begin by saying that I would have never picked this book up on my own if it wasn't part of a Read-to-Review program. Now with that said, the premise of this book is interesting and very unique. A Resident Evil type outbreak occurs turning a good portion of the population into zombies. But, these aren't you average garden variety zombies...Nope, they are xombies. The "X" is definitely intentional since the xombies are used as prostitutes because of their raging libidos. *Gasp* I know! Very taboo but Sommers manages to humanize (ha ha) the zombies in allowing them to retain a fashion of humanity. There is one sex scene in the entire book but it was just...captivating! LOL. "Red Honda"'s flexibility would definitely rival a Cirque de Soleil performers dexterity. I swear that I read it and went, "Uh uh!!! No. She. Did. Not!" But then laughed out loud thinking about how many men would love to see that one.If you're looking for a unique, quick, and steamy read then you'd enjoy this one.

XOMBIE Volume One edition by Brody Sommers Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This was an interesting short story. Definitely not as bad as I expected. When I first read "Zombie sex" I was a little wary, but I decided to try it anyway, and I was not disappointed.
After losing his job, the main character runs into an old friend, Mitch, who takes him across town to see where he works; planning on giving him a job. It ends up being a facility that houses the Xombies that were infected by an explosion in a weight loss/performance pill lab. The infected become the undead, with a high sex drive.
Mitch ends up putting him in the room with a Xombie that he actually used to date. After a few pleasantries, the two have crazy-hot sex, after which, he decides to accept the job that Mitch offers.
It was definitely well-written. It had an interesting premise. I would definitely consider reading the second book whenever it comes out.
Okay, he writes a nice sex scene and the words are spelled right. But there's "teasers" and there's "you just said these people were infected with something and now you're making prostitutes out of them." That doesn't make any sense. It doesn't make me want to buy the next book to find out why, it just irritates me.
If zombie sex makes you hot... this *might* work for you. This is NOT "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" meets "Deadgirl." The zombies, at least the ones we see, are not traditional zombies. If you're looking for a sex scene out of the last half hour of "Return of the Living Dead III" (the one with the hot Goth zombie chick) this ain't it. But that being said, he does have fun with the idea of zombie sex and like I said, the scene (singular) itself is not bad. Worth a look if zombies really push your button.
An interesting take on zombies, with a bit of kink thrown in to add spice. Of course, when you're talking zombies in an erotic short story, how could there not be a bit of kink involved? These aren't the typical horror movie half-rotted corpse type zombie though, or at least the one (two?) we see aren't. Their exact nature is never fully explained aside from a general description of how they came to be and some hints that the physical symptoms/manifestations of the infection vary depending on several factors. A great many of them are apparently not much different from normal people aside from odd grey eyes and some interesting temperature extremes in their bodies. The temperature difference between surface skin and extremities being ice cold to the core of the body being feverishly hot become significant in the main sex scene of the book and makes for some pretty smoking hot sex. The author really does a good job of making you imagine how the temperature difference would feel when...involved...with a xombie.
Aside from the sex, the story is intriguing and well written, though not enough information is given to know what sort of situation the narrator is getting himself into really with the new job offer from his friend Mitch. We're given constant reassurances that the guy trusts Mitch implicitly and doesn't believe he'd trick him into getting involved with something bad, but Mitch is evasive enough with his answers and just generally acting kind of strange that you're not really sure if it's safe to trust him. Hopefully the subtitle of "Volume One" means there will be a follow-up story at some point that will explain more. While I'm not generally all that into reading zombie stuff, this one has me intrigued enough that I'd read a sequel to it to find out more about what's going on in this world and with the company that Mitch works for in particular. Zombie fans will like this one, but fans of the paranormal or of unusual sorts of erotica would probably like it as well.
With the proliferation of zombie fare on television, movies, and books, I've been "dying" to sample a few myself. Brody Sommers' 26-page short story, XOMBIE (Volume One), was offered free in return for an honest review, and the teaser certainly intrigued.
An industrial accident has caused some people to become infected and end up as zombies. The backers of the original company where the accident happened have turned this to their advantage in a new money making scheme turn the willing zombies into super sex slaves.
Our very likeable but unnamed lead character has been recently released from his job and an old friend recruits him to the new business. The bulk of the story is the "recruitment."
Admittedly new to the zombie theme, I thought that the premise was unique and wicked-fun. The sexual situations were well done and never dull (or repetitive). The idea of sex with a zombie - at least the kind I've seen in the movies - was shocking. However, these aren't your old Saturday-matinee-type zombies with parts falling off. They are described as "fresh" and physically beautiful and desirable (still). Part of the storyline addresses an issue of what surviving family members think and have to do about their loved ones that have become infected and "turned" which was interesting.
I do look forward to the next volume(s).
